Gameplay Questions

What is the win rate for Aces Up Solitaire?
The estimated win rate for Aces Up Solitaire with optimal play is approximately 1–2%. Most deals are unwinnable regardless of how well you play. A score of 40 or higher is considered very strong. A perfect win (48/48) is rare and satisfying.
Is Aces Up Solitaire always winnable?
No. Most deals cannot be won even with perfect strategy. The game outcome depends heavily on the initial shuffle. Don't be discouraged — focus on maximizing your score each game.
What is the maximum score?
The maximum score is 48. This means all 48 non-ace cards have been discarded — the four aces are the only cards remaining. Score 48 = perfect win.
Can I undo moves?
Yes — click the Undo button to take back your last move. The undo count is tracked and affects leaderboard ranking. You can undo as many times as you like, but each undo may reduce your leaderboard position compared to players who didn't undo.
What does the Hint button do?
The Hint button highlights one possible move — usually a discardable card. Hint count is tracked. Hints affect leaderboard ranking (fewer hints = better rank when scores are tied).
What is the difference between New Game and Restart?
New Game shuffles a brand new deck — you get a completely different deal. Restart replays the same deal from the beginning. Use Restart if you want to try a hand again with different choices.
Why can't I move cards between columns?
In Aces Up Solitaire, you can only move the top card of any column to an empty column. You cannot move cards onto non-empty columns. This is the standard rule of the game.
When can I deal from the stock?
You should only deal from the stock after there are no discard moves left. On this site, empty-column moves are optional before dealing, so you may still deal if no discard is available.
What happens if a column is empty?
If a column is empty, you may move any exposed top card into that empty space. This can reveal a buried card and create new discards, but on this site the move is optional before dealing if no discard is available.
What does the discard pile show?
The discard pile shows the most recently discarded card, so you can quickly see what was just removed from play.

Leaderboard Questions

How is the leaderboard ranked?
Rankings are determined in this order: highest score first, then fewest restarts, fewest hints, fewest undos, fastest time, fewest moves, and finally earliest submission timestamp.
When can I submit my score?
You can only submit your score at a true end state: either a win (score 48) or a no-more-moves state. You cannot submit mid-game. The Submit Score button becomes fully active at game end.
Does the leaderboard reset?
Yes — the daily leaderboard resets every day at midnight UTC. The leaderboard page shows today's top scores, recent winners from the past 7 days, and 90 days of history.
How many scores are shown on the homepage?
The homepage shows the top 20 scores for today. The full leaderboard page shows the top 50 by default, expandable to top 100.
